Busy Weekend

Christy asked if I would take Anthony for Saturday so Chris and her could have
a fun date day. Then the Childs called and they were coming in on Saturday and wanted me to invite our old "scum" buddies over to play cards and have dinner.
So we had Anthony come spend the night on Friday and we took him home on Saturday night before friends arrived.

ANTHONY totally broke our records of the game of Hand and Foot. Bob and I love that game and play often. It is more fun with more people but can do it with two just fine. So I keep record of how many "seven of a kind" we get and our highest points.
Anthony got FOUR seven of a kind in ONE round and then got one more in another round. So the total of FIVE for one game is the new record!!! That of course got him the highest points scored and Bob is bummed since it is his record that was beat. FYI I have the record of the lowest points scored!!! Hey, someone has to lose...

So, about 30 minutes before we were to take Anthony home and the Childs to get here, we got a call from Bob's good friend he grew up with in Vallejo (Gary and Kim Rhodes). His wife's sister lives close to us. So they popped in for about 30 minutes for a short visit. They are here for a week so we hope to see them again.

So our "scum buddies" were few in numbers...Only the Smiths we able to make it. But we still had a good time and a great visit. I made some minestrone soup and salad and Deanne Smith brought a dessert. We ended up teaching the Smiths Golf, the card game. We had fun playing a new game. For the first time I won! Bob ALWAYS does well playing this game.

So, Childs left Tuesday morning, they visited family and friends and went through their home for the last time...they have two "short-sale" offers that should go through. I will settle down now and get some sewing done.

Science Experiment

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you forgot you were boiling eggs?
THEY BLOW UP!!!! I never was good in science class...especially in the lab.
SO, thinking I can multi-task, I put some eggs on to boil and then went into the den to call and make appointments to the Sisters I Visit Teach. One sister will talk your ear off (yes, someone else in this world is like me). I started hearing a popping sound----like pop guns going off in the house. I knew that I didn't own any pop-guns, and I knew no one else was in the house, so it had to be ("Oh no, I forgot the eggs") ...the EGGS! They were popping everywhere...stove top, floor, and in the
pan. AT LEAST THEY WERE COOKED! The pan was pretty burned...but good 'ole SOS pads saved me on this mistake. I can't even begin to tell you about the "stench" it left.
I put on my coat and opened up the doors...piano students were due to arrive in one hour. Then I took out the Lysol Spray...actually the smell went away.

So the lesson learned today? Don't call and make appointments for Visiting Teaching when boiling eggs!

"Sleepless in Vacaville"

It doesn't quite have the ring as "Sleepless in Seattle"....but this is the story of my life. I came back on the blog and wondered why the final printing is so cut up. I don't know why it is doing it...so give me help you bloggers...

Since this is my journal of happenings in the World of Bob and Amelia I need to back up a few months...January came in with Paul, Nikki, and kids with us from Christmas Day. We had a great time having them here. Bob's birthday wound up the month since it is on the 30th. He has been worried with the economy if he would have his job for long and so we were saving and thinking of ways to cut back. He said if he had the "series" of Hogan Heroes and Home Improvement we wouldn't need cable! So I ordered the series of Hogan Heroes and gave it to him for his birthday. David and Julie gave him one season of Home Improvement...so to the rest of you kids you can buy him the other seasons and he will have a complete set!

January for me was a month of results of tests that I took in December....Neurology was running more tests on me trying to figure out why I am having problems again walking, pain in leg flared up, and my back killing me. They found I was low in Vitamin D and that I have arthritis in my back. I had been in Physical Therapy since November...and I have found some relief but not totally. Since I have so many allergies to medications I can't take any drugs for pain.

So, then into February I still do PT and then I was told I have sleep apnea. So again, trying to get used to the mask is tough...the first mask I was allergic too...the second one I was too...but I took it to my Alternative Medical Doctor in Oakland and he cleared me so I could use it. But to use it I felt better if I reclined and not lay down. But sitting more than 2 hours was my limit. I was told I have to wear it for 4 hours or I have to turn the machine in...so I turned it in. The bottom line is I have to LOSE weight. The story of my life after giving birth to kids. They won't see me at PT anymore. they said they have done their limit of visits for me and that I am not responding!!! I have met with my doctor and we are trying to decide on a plan best for me.

So, I have caught you up on the first two months of 2009!

March 3, 2009

So here I am family and friends...attempting a new way of communication.
I am not sure what has happened to the good 'ole telephone...but I love
the idea of the "blog" being my journal. I love seeing my grandkids
on the blogs...so maybe the older ones will like to find Grandma and
Grandpa on a blog!

I am sure I will get more tips from "you bloggers" and I will work on
setting up some pictures.

I think with the addition of a new granddaughter this is a good time
to start a blog. Our family is growing so fast. On February 28 we
had number 16 added to our family tree! We are excited to have a
new baby close by. Samantha Grace Fawson has been added to
David and Julie's family. She weighed 8 lbs. and is 21 1/2 inches long.
She is a cutie!!!

So, here's my first entry... this is a fun way to journal!
